COMFORT ZONE

I was reading this week about our comfort zone and how stepping out of our comfort zone can help us grow. It got me thinking about our trauma experienced children. Do they have a ‘comfort‘ zone? If so, is their comfort zone developed from feelings associated with adverse experiences which lack safety, connection and support – all vital elements that we often associate with comfort zones? How then, do we support them to step out of their comfort zone? How much more can they grow by experiencing safe, positive and healthy relationships and feel a sense of belonging and self-worth? Stepping out of our comfort zone can be scary – so just imagine the bravery it takes for some of our children to trust adults enough to take that first step!
