We rightly spend time this week considering the harm and hurt that bullying causes and how we can stop bullying. This always leads me to consider why people bully. Although the causes of bullying can be complex, there is no doubt that growing up in violent households is a significant risk factor. Therefore, my question to everyone working in schools this week is: Are we being curious about the reasons behind the behaviour? Let us focus more on what factors have led to this behaviour in order to address it and prevent future incidents.
