I listened to a TED talk yesterday given by someone who had suffered sexual abuse. She spoke passionately about how the relationship formed with her male teacher had such a positive impact that she was later able to speak up, confront her abuser and get the support she needed. For me it highlighted, once again, the power that teachers have to help transform the future of a child. Let us together, ensure every teacher is trauma aware in your school.
