I attended a fantastic inaugural conference of ‘University of Winchester’s Sanctuary Network’. It focused on welcoming people seeking sanctuary and considered how schools and other organisations can be a place of sanctuary for children who are forced to migrate and seek safety, including refugees and asylum seekers.
Schools that already adopt Trauma Informed Practices are well placed to provide the safety and support needed by these members of our community. Let’s make sure all schools can provide the sense of belonging, control, self-worth, positive relationships and academic excellence that all children require to thrive.
